I cannot put down the book Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg. It's heart wrenching to say the least and it makes me actually feel a little PROUD of where we are as far as our LGBTQ rights. I know ... did you really ever think I would say that? My friends only know me to complain. After reading about the butches and femmes and queens and he-she's and whatever the fuck you want to call yourself... that came before me... after reading about what it was like for THEM, I cannot complain. I feel ridiculous for my rants.
What Jess Goldberg endured as a young girl and then young woman I related to on so many levels. I am not even half way through the book. Already, my face has been wet with tears, AND I have laughed out loud in public while reading too.
So... tell me... what are you reading?

Just finished reading a book last night called "Hells Belle" by Jane Holleman. Story of a psychotic nurse who murders a variety of patients and lovers. A quick and easy read to get away from school readings.
AYC: that's exactly what this is... helping me get away from school reading. Oh wait. I'm not really reading for school properly though! I'm the worst procrastinator.
That book sounds like another one I would be interested in.
I just finished reading Chelsea Handler's last book. I can't even remember the freaking title, but it was great!
I know I'm a bit late to comment on this post, but I saw it and had to write in. Stone Butch Blues is one of my favorite books of all times. If you like Leslie Feinberg, you should pick up hir other novel, "Drag King Dreams". Also fabulous.
If you're in a poetry mood, hir partner Minnie-Bruce Pratt just came out with another poetry book, this one about Leslie. It's called "S/he". If you like poetry, that's a queer must-read.
As for other stuff to read, I just finished "Cunt: a declaration of independence" by Inga Muscio. Probably also in my top five favorite books of all times. "Female Chauvinist Pigs" is really interesting from a feminist level. Currently, I'm doing my "feminist duty" and reading Betty Freidan's famous (infamous) "The Feminine Mystique" because I feel like I can't be a true feminist scholar without having read it.

This is the second time this month I've seen someone write about "Female Chauvinist Pigs"! I need to read that. Please don't feel like it's your feminist duty to read "Mystique"!! LOL... that cracked me up. What do you think of it?
